Rice is the seed of the grass species Oryza glaberrima (African rice) or Oryza sativa (Asian rice). In financial year 2019, the yield of rice estimated in the country was approximately 2.6 thousand kilograms per hectare. There was a consistent increase in the yield of rice since fiscal year 1991-RICE Production in INDIA in FY2019 was 172.6 Million ton.
